CFO Council Competency Survey - Employees

The CFO Council is partnering with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to review the existing competency models underlying the CFOC Financial Management Career Roadmap and to develop additional new competencies/skills consistent with the CFOC’s 2030 Workforce Modernization Strategy.  These updated competency models will be used to help determine training and development priorities for the financial management workforce.

How Will the Results of the Survey be Used?

In this study, we are collecting information to revalidate the existing competencies that are most important for successful performance in four financial management occupations (GS-0501, GS-0510, GS-0511, and GS-0560).  In addition, we are collecting data on new competencies for potential inclusion in the models.  Your responses and those from other employees and supervisors will describe and quantify the work performed across the financial management community in the Federal Government.

Who is Being Asked to Complete the Survey?

To obtain the best possible information, we are asking Federal employees across the four financial management occupations identified above and their supervisors to complete the survey.  Please complete the survey yourself and do not forward it to others.

Who Will See My Responses to the Survey?

Your responses will be analyzed by OPM.  All information that you provide will be treated confidentially by OPM.  Only aggregated data will be presented to the CFO Council and its member agencies.  No data will be disclosed that could be used to identify specific individuals.

What Does the Survey Cover?

This survey contains four sections: (I) Occupational Background, (II) Potential New Competencies, (III) Existing Competencies, and (IV) Personal Demographics.  The Occupational Background section asks you to provide information about your job.  The two Competency sections asks you to rate competencies that may be required to perform your job.  The Personal Demographics section asks you to provide information about yourself.
